The annual Upper Midwest Optical Golf Day is the sole fundraising event of the UMOGD Sight Preservation Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We support those with needs that extend beyond the vision products the optical industry provides with a special focus on helping children achieve academic success so they may reach their full potential.

In the early days, the purpose of the outing was to bring the optical industry community together to enjoy each other’s company and play a friendly round of competitive golf. In recent years, the committee embarked upon expanding the scope of charitable giving and the vision of the organization.

 

Generous UMOGD sponsors, players and donors raised In $57,000 to help visually impaired students at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind in 2018. And, in 2021, we set a donation record of $120,000 for Foundation Fighting Blindness.

 

In 2024, we proudly celebrated our 35th and final Upper Midwest Optical Golf Day. As we officially close this chapter, we do so with deep gratitude and pride. The success of this event and the lives it touched would not have been possible without your belief in our mission and your continued support.
