DONATION HISTORY
With generous donations from partners like you, the UMOGD Sight Preservation Foundation is able to support those with needs that extend beyond the vision products the optical industry provides. Over the years, we've helped students at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind with field trips, sports uniforms, the Bike Path, a recording studio and much more.
In 2019 and again in 2021, the UMOGD benefitted Foundation Fighting Blindness - raising over $200,000 total and $120,000 in 2021 alone.
The Mark Sathe Bike Path
Through the UMOGD's "Dare to Dream" fundraising campaign, a multi-sensory and fitness obstacle course was constructed in 2009. The project included the construction of the playground, The Mark Sathe Bike Path and the purchase adaptive bikes. This contribution allows students an opportunity to be involved in different forms of activity and exercise while gaining independence in their efforts to complete the course.
Recording Studio
Another campaign, "Education Through the Art of Music", brought a music lab and recording studio to the students at the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind. Music education is an important part of the students' experience at the MSAB and we've had the privilege to hear the talented MSAB students and graduates perform at our golf outing and our check presentation ceremony.
